Great while it lasted Jun 07, 2011
By Phillip Campbell I use a fan to sleep at night. Box fans today are poorly built and don't last more than a few months before they start sounding really stupid. I was looking for a different kind without a rattle, whine or shutter. and thought maybe a floor fan would work. I tried the "Workforce" model of floor fan in the store (no comparable model from Amazon) and it rattled badly. The only other thing I found was a display mode of the Maxx Air and it sounded great. No rattle, nice and consistent - rather like an airplane propeller. Later that day, I gave it a try to sleep with.
After about 20 minutes on high, it made a peculiar grinding noise several times, like something got into the motor, then settled down and ran solidly for several more hours and I actually slept pretty well for the first time in two weeks. But when I shut it off, instead of spinning down slowly, the blades came to a rather abrupt halt and it wouldn't start again without a push. The motor was extremely hot to the touch.
Needless to say it went back to the store. I paid a discount price, and got my money back, but I'm still looking for a decent, relatively inexpensive (under $50.00) floor fan. The advertised price at the store was twenty dollars less than it is here.

MaxxAir Made in USA Jun 10, 2011
By Mark Great fan looks to be built very well also Made in USA it moves alot of air its not for small rooms. Would of given it a 5 Star rating but the fans Low Setting is not very Low and could use little longer power cord. The Low and Medium setting are almost no difference. This fan is realy for a warehouse or a large room its kinda loud also but if your looking for a fan that will almost blow the paint off the walls look no further.... Have a Nice Day

Really cool floor fans Nov 02, 2011
By Shopperbee Just loving these fans. Bought 2 MAXX fans to use in large recreation hall two years ago. Really helped cool things down. Went back to same retailer to buy 3rd fan, but had different brand, same size, same price, same promises. Not so! Other brand vibrated, slipped around on the floor, and did not produce comparable cooling effect. Ordered 2 MAXX fans through Amazon and they match the quality and cooling of the original MAXX fans. Someone mentioned the fans are noisey - I find that the "noise" is caused by the volume of air blowing through the blades, not by the motor. Running the fans on low or medium speeds lowers the "noise" and provides plenty of cooling breeze. There are 4 fans in a 30' X 40' room and they do not interfere with hearing music while dancing. They are not silent, but not distracting. Service was fantastic. Fans were delivered in 5 days. Perfect condition.
MaxxAir HVFF 20 High Velocity 20-Inch Floor Fan May 05, 2012

Unfortunately, I can't leave much to be desired about this fan.
I have to say that I am surprised at the high level of recommendation of the fan, I guess that it proves that people do not have much expectation these days.
The fan put out air, at least for 6 weeks.
The fan is cheaply constructed of thin wire, the blade came loose, then the shaft seized up, all within a 6 week period.
It's out of Amazons return period, and the return to the company is at my expense.
So, chalk it up to a lesson learned.
I cannot recommend this product.
20" MaxxAir does the trick Apr 03, 2012

I purchased this fan to help with cooling the house and the deck area. Let me tell you this fan will move some air! It is a bit noisy, even on the low setting. It would be nice if it had a lower quieter setting. Even at 1/2 the fan's low setting this fan would move enough air to be effective. Combined with the sun shade we purchased for the lanai to keep the setting sun off the deck area, we think the two items will make the deck and pool area enjoyable in the hot and humid summer evenings.
