5Colling thermostat works well  Nov 15, 2009 By Tyrone Larkin
This is a straight forward, effective product. I use it to turn on my furnace motor to distribute warm air around the house when my wood pellet stove makes the living room too warm to be cozy. It's simple to install, easy to look at and requires no fancy wiring, just household wire suitable for the load, as per the relevant electrical code.

5Home Theater Cooling Thermostat  May 26, 2009 By Shawn D. Keller "Shawndk11010"
I bought this thermostat for use in cooling my home theater cabinet. I've been using it for 3 months now and it's worked exactly as I expected!

4Works great  Apr 02, 2009 By Andy in Washington "Andy"
I use this controller in my indoor table-top greenhouse to run a bathroom exhaust fan to keep the plants cool in the summer.

The temperature control has been very good, and there seems to be sufficient hysteresis built into the controller to avoid short-cycling of the fan. (Hysteresis means that the turn on temp is a couple degrees from the turn-off temp, so the fan doesn't turn on and off every couple seconds).

The controller is all mechanical-no electronics inside. I haven't checked it for accuracy, but a quick look at my thermometer indicates it is at least pretty close to its set temp. It looks reasonably professional in appearance.

The unit is designed to fit into a standard electrical box, but it is a tight fit. I was trying to use a "remodelling" type box-the one with the little ears on it, and ended up having to drill out part of the box to get the thermostat to fit. I also don't like the location of the grounding screw- it allows the copper grounding wire to be somewhat visible and touchable from the outside. I realize that this is perfectly safe, but the non-electrical user can find it a little disconcerning.

That is about the only negative I had- otherwise it seems to be just what I wanted.

5Good for DIYers  Apr 02, 2008 By Steve Borsher "serious internet shopper"
I used this to cool my home theater stack; wired a couple box fans to it to pull air up through the back of the stack. Works great.

5Rating manufacturer, not product.  Jan 13, 2011 By D. Farrow
The operation of this device seems very simple but the instructions aren't intended for someone who doesn't work in the HVAC field. I had problems with the operation of this device. After contacting tech support the device appeared to be defective. Lux Products was eager to send me a replacement and did so without awaiting my return. They even included a free return shipping label. After returning two of these I found out that my (and their tech support person's) interpretation of the operating instructions was faulty. I finally resolved my problem when the tech support person had an engineer contact me. The people at Lux Products Corp were more than patient and VERY willing to exchange my product. I can't say enough good things about the support even though we had a bit of a rough start. I will certainly do business with Lux Products again.
