Simply The Best! Aug 29, 2009
By Grandpa's Choice Replaced old fashioned, round, dome shaped thermostat. Could not be more pleased! Keeps perfect temp. Easy to see. Easy to use. Easy to install.

The Busy Mom Feb 24, 2010
By Norma Scott I bought this thermostat because I have purchased other items from this company and have been very satisfied with the quality. I am not only a busy mother, but not very good with programming electronics. This thermostat was easy to install and, so far, very easy to operate. The numbers are large and easy to read, so I don't have to run for my reading glasses every time I want to look at the temp. What I thought would be an intimidating project was a pleasant experience. I would definitely buy from Lux again.

"Low Battery" indictator electronics is not engineered correctly! Jan 17, 2012
By Steve Oh I own 4 of these thermostats and have had them for more than 5 years. They are installed at 2 separate residences.
This thermostat requires 2 full charge AAA batteries to function properly. There is a "Low Battery" notification in the unit's LCD display, however, the electronics are not correctly designed to indicate "Low Battery" soon enough. This means that the thermostat will operate incorrectly for perhaps 6 months or more with batteries which have a lower voltage than required for correct function. This incorrect function will occur way before the "Low Battery" signal is ever displayed, causing heating or air conditioning to cycle too often at incorrect temperatures, regardless of what the temperature is set at.
So, if you purchased this otherwise excellent thermostat, and are having temperature regulation issues, and unneccessary heat/air conditoning cycles, install 2 new AAA batteries, and the problems will be resolved. In my case, batteries last a little over a year before needing replacement. Replacing batteries has always solved the problem, but I have never once seen the "Low Battery" on the LCD display work soon enough.
If it weren't for this issue, I would rate this product "5 Star". But they just didn't do their engineering job correctly. Otherwise, it is a great value and a great thermostat. I do like the simplicity and the large display.

Simple and inexpensive Jul 23, 2011
By M. Koman This pretty much works as I expected. Simple to install and use. Temp stays true to readout. One surprise---If you turn the thermostat to off then to cool, you need to wait 2 or 5 minutes for the compressor protection timeout before unit will begin running, even if the unit had not been running before turning it to cool. One wish---that the temp readout would stay continually lighted (maybe half brightness) when connected to aux power source. All in all, a good deal for the money, and it performs most than adequately.

Fooled by delayed start Aug 02, 2011
By SeaJunk I bought this to replace an earlier Lux model that had lasted for years. Installation was easy but I was fooled by the delayed start (wait 5 minutes) when turning on the AC. This seems to be a feature of modern thermostats but initially I thought something was wrong with the unit or install. The swing temperature also seems low so I went with the wide setting (Jumper 3 open).
