safe and quiet Jun 20, 2008

I bought this heater for my daughter's nursery. Her room is always a little colder than the rest of the house and I wanted to add a few degrees with a heater that was extremelly safe for children and absolutely quiet. I wanted a short heater that would be safe in case my child tips it over. Also, this one is small and looks nice in white. This heater did the job, even though I was doubting at first. We got rid of the initial smell by running the heater in the garage at full temperature for one day. This was specified in the instructions, which said that they cover the heater with some protecting layer for shipping. The heater was quiet for many weeks, and then one day starting making some noise. I discovered that it was due to some bubbles that were produced when my daughter tipped it over. The solution was to gently shake the heater a little, which I think removed all bubbles. After that, we haven't had any noise. The most important part is that we set this heater at lower heating, and that is enough to raise the temperature in the room a few degrees. This works very nicely for us because the heater is not too hot to the touch and it safe even if my daughter wants to touch it. In terms of the manual regulation, I think that there are some advantages. Electronic settings tend to break often, so having all manual settings will make for a more durable machine. To set the temperature, you have to wait until you feel the proper temperature has been reached and then lower the thermostat until it clicks. This is not as convinient as just setting a temperature with a number dial, and that is why I give only four stars to this review. On the other hand, sometimes is better to determine the right temperature by how it feels in the room betten than by what the machine says. Finally, regarding the timer setting, we don't use it that much because my husband prefers to unplug the heater when we are not home, but it seemed to me very easy to figure out and quite practical. You can set it every 15 mins on and off and all you have to do is move the little pegs in or out. Very straighforward.

Very useful Dec 18, 2007
By Y. UMINO I have this heater in my bathroom since it's been cold in winter, and it helps a lot. It's true though that this makes a wicked crack sound when it's off - but it does not bother me that much. Just few times at night.

Compact and Effective Mar 04, 2010

Other reviews cover this well. It heats as well as I need it to, very small, compact, silent and it heats a 15' square room with no problem.
As others noted, it's kind of a pain not to have an "on" switch. You have to use the timer whenever you want it on.
Great heater in a compact design Apr 11, 2012
By Steve P I bought this heater for our guest bathroom and it does an excellent job of keeping it warm in our 20 below Minnesota winters - and this bathroom is in a corner of an old 1897 house with two outside walls, big old window and drafty construction.
It is just as powerful as larger sized heaters (compare the watts) but in a smaller size which fits better in our small bathroom. I especially like the ground-fault plug for use in a bathroom - not all models may have this feature so be sure to check carefully if it's an important feature for you. As for heat out-put, it's as much as one can expect and/or get from a heater that plugs into a 15 amp 120 volt circuit (again, compare the watts).
I especially like contemporary design - looks great in our upscale environment and not like a cheap heater from a discount store. It seems sturdy, and most importantly, with it's more squat design, it's also more stable and not so tippy.
The timer is a nice feature, especially with guests since they may not feel comfortable having to remember to turn it on/off all the time. I set it so that it comes on about an hour before our guests are expected to get up in the morning. As long as they remember to keep the bathroom door closed, it will be warm and inviting for a morning shower - something we all appreciate in our cold winters. The three heat settings allow for a faster rise in room temperature as the weather gets colder. I seldom need to use the high setting.
I've since bought two more for our other bathrooms and another one for the breakfast area. They all work great as supplemental heaters for occasional use. For safety reasons, I would never rely on or use a space heater as a primary source of heat. I think it also leads to premature failure.
Great heater Jan 16, 2012

I received one heater as a gift from someone and was impressed enough to order 3 more for rental units that I have. The best features are that it is silent and you can program the units to go on and off as often as you need (ex. from 5-8 am and then again on at 7-10 pm). Also, while they do heat up enough to heat up a room, they are still safe enough to touch.
